What do we do?

We broiadcast the UK's first community radio station, launched in February 2002 - CROSS RHYTHMS CITY RADIO 101.8FM in Stoke on Trent. Following the success of this venture OFCOM allowed other groups in other cities to partner with Cross Rhythms, from which CROSS RHYTHMS PLYMOUTH 96.3FM, CROSS RHYTHMS TEESSIDE 107.1FM, and CROSS RHYTHMS COVENTRY (due to broadcast from July 2010), have received licenses. We also have a popular website with about 60,000 PAGES, and nearly 900,000 unique users in 2008. You can listen online too, all at www.crossrhythms.co.uk.

A bit of history

Started by Chris Cole in 1984 as a half hour show on Plymouth Sound ILR called the Solid Rock of Jesus Christ, with 25 vinyl albums. The show became one hour and ran for 18 years, becoming the most listened-to show in its time slot in the region. This show was syndicated to more than 20 stations worldwide. In 1991 Chris bought the recently launched Cross Rhythms Magazine and took on a local festival. He renamed his radio show The Cross Rhythms Experience, and in July 1997, in partnership with UCB, the full-time Cross Rhythms radio station was launched on Sky digital satellite, as was the Cross Rhythms website. In 2002 Cross Rhythms City Radio 101.8FM was launched in Stoke on Trent as the first community station and full-time Christian station on FM. In collaboration with other groups, Cross Rhythms Plymouth launched in March 2007, Cross Rhythms Teeside in April 2008 and Cross Rhythms Coventry will launch in 2010.

What have we learnt?

Man, what a question!

You have one life. Don't waste it chasing media dreams. Chase God and let Him outwork your life.

Who works here?

We run with 8 full time employees, 2 part time and about 30 volunteers.
